Lessons and Enrolment
You can sign up easily through our online Sign Up form on the website. Simply fill in your details and we will get back to you to arrange your first session.
We offer lessons for children aged 4 and above. Our sessions are tailored to each child's age and developmental stage, with 40-minute sessions for younger children (ages 4+) and 60-minute sessions available for children aged 8 and above.
We currently offer tuition in violin, viola, piano, guitar, and singing. We are continuously expanding our offerings and will soon introduce even more instruments.
Lessons are typically held once or twice weekly, depending on the student's needs and schedule. Consistent practice and regular sessions are key to musical and cognitive development.
Pricing and Payment
40-minute sessions are £35 (online or in studio) or £40 at your house. 60-minute sessions are £40 (online or in studio) or £45 at your house. Our studios are located in Bo'ness and Dundee.
As a Community Interest Company, we are committed to making music education accessible to all. Please contact us directly to discuss your circumstances - we do our best to support families who may face financial barriers.
Locations and Format
Our main studio is located at Kandahar House, 71 Meadowside, 1st Floor, Room 3, Dundee, DD1 1EN. We also offer sessions in Bo'ness. Home visits are available across Scotland with prior confirmation.
Yes, we offer fully online lessons for all instruments. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person ones, with the added convenience of learning from home.
Qualifications and Safety
Yes, all our tutors are PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) checked through Disclosure Scotland. The safety and wellbeing of every child is our top priority.
All our tutors are skilled musicians with formal musical training and strong educational backgrounds. Many have trained at recognised music institutions and bring both performance experience and teaching expertise.
Our team also includes students and graduates from disciplines such as psychology, speech and language therapy, and pharmacology, allowing us to take a more holistic, science-informed approach to music education.
Our Founder holds a BA (Hons) in Music and English, an MSc in Language Sciences with a specialisation in Neuroscience, Language and Communication from UCL, and is currently a PhD Researcher in Cognitive Neuropsychology at the University of Dundee.
Yes, CogniMusica is a registered Community Interest Company (CIC) in Scotland, registration number SC806662. We are also members of the Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM) and the Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce.
Exams and Progress
Yes, we prepare students for ABRSM practical and theory exams from Initial/Grade 1 through to Grade 8. Our students have achieved over 50 ABRSM exams with a 99% pass rate.
Absolutely. We specialise in supporting children with additional learning needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, developmental language disorder (DLD), and developmental coordination disorder (DCD). Our cognitive approach tailors each lesson to the individual needs of every child.
We integrate cognitive science with music education. By closely observing how students process and retain information while playing, we use music as a tool for targeted cognitive skill development. This means our lessons benefit children not only musically but also in their cognitive, social, and emotional growth.
