Singing Lessons

Build healthy vocal technique and performance confidence from a young age.

Singing is the most personal instrument a child can develop - and starting young with proper technique sets them up for a lifetime of confident, healthy performance. CogniMusica offers singing lessons across Scotland (in our Dundee and Bo'ness studios, in students' homes, or online) for children aged four and above.

What Your Child Will Learn

Our singing lessons build healthy vocal habits from the start - breath control, posture, pitch, and expression - alongside a varied repertoire children genuinely enjoy. We teach the fundamentals that protect the voice through the changes of childhood and adolescence.

  • Breath control and posture for sustained, healthy singing
  • Pitch matching, intonation, and ear training
  • Diction and expression in English (and Polish if helpful)
  • Repertoire from musical theatre, pop, classical, and folk traditions
  • Performance confidence through informal singing and ABRSM exam preparation
  • Preparation for special occasions such as school concerts and First Holy Communion

The Cognitive Benefits

Singing develops breath control, listening skills, language processing, and emotional expression all at once. For children who find spoken expression difficult - including those with developmental language disorder or other communication needs - singing can be a particularly powerful way in. Music engages language areas of the brain in unique ways, which is one of the things our founder's PhD research explores.

How Sessions Work

Singing lessons take place in our Dundee studio, our Bo'ness studio, in your home, or online. No instrument purchase needed - just your child. Sessions are 40 minutes (£35 in-studio or online, £40 at home) for children aged four and above, or 60 minutes (£40 in-studio or online, £45 at home) for ages eight and above. We follow the ABRSM Singing syllabus for students working towards graded exams.
